Declaration of Faith and Principles of Naturis Sancta

1. Preamble

We, the adherents of Naturis Sancta, declare our commitment to living in harmony with Nature as the supreme and omnipresent force of life. We recognise Nature as the origin, sustainer, and final destination of all living things. Our belief is rooted in reverence for the natural world, the human body as Nature created it, and the interconnectedness of all existence.

Naturis Sancta exists as a spiritual path and way of life, guiding its followers toward peace, unity, respect for all life, and responsible stewardship of the planet.

2. Core Beliefs

We affirm the following as the spiritual foundation of Naturis Sancta:

  1. Nature as the Supreme Principle — Nature is the ultimate creative force, shaping the planet and all life upon it. It is not merely a resource but a sacred presence worthy of reverence.

  2. Humanity’s Place in Nature — Humans are an inseparable part of Nature, not its masters. Our survival and wellbeing depend on living in balance with the natural world.

  3. The Body as Sacred — The human body, as Nature created it, is inherently good and pure. Non-sexual nudity is a spiritual practice of acceptance, honesty, and unity with Nature.

  4. Peace and Unity — All beings are connected. The more we align our thoughts and actions toward peace and cooperation, the more we strengthen these qualities in the collective consciousness (morphic resonance).

  5. Respect for All Life — All forms of life have intrinsic value. Our actions must aim to protect and preserve biodiversity.

  6. Harmony of Technology and Nature — When guided by wisdom, technology can serve Nature and humanity, not exploit them.

3. Sacred Practices

The spiritual life of Naturis Sancta includes:

  • Naturis Rites: Ceremonies performed in natural settings, often in a state of non-sexual nudity, to honour the unity of body and Nature.

  • Grounding: Removing footwear to connect directly with the Earth’s surface.

  • Seasonal Observances: Marking solstices, equinoxes, and significant natural events as sacred times for reflection and renewal.

  • Meditation in Nature: Practising stillness in natural environments to deepen the connection with the living world.

4. Moral and Ethical Principles

Members of Naturis Sancta commit to:

  • Non-violence in thought, word, and action.

  • Truthfulness and transparency in all dealings.

  • Minimising harm to the environment.

  • Supporting human dignity, equality, and body acceptance for all.

5. Organisation

Naturis Sancta is led by the Elder, who provides spiritual guidance and preserves the integrity of its teachings. The movement is open to all who accept its principles, regardless of race, gender, nationality, or other distinctions.

6. Religious Identity

Naturis Sancta is a religion as recognised under the definition established by the High Court of Australia (Church of the New Faith v Commissioner of Payroll Tax, 1983), being:

  • A set of beliefs about a supernatural principle (Nature as supreme and omnipresent).

  • A set of canons, rituals, and observances directed toward that principle.

  • An identifiable community of believers.
