Sacred through meaning
Ceremony in Naturis Sancta™ does not require elaborate objects, prescribed clothing, fixed words or complex ritual.
A ceremony becomes meaningful through awareness, intention and the significance given to the moment.
It may be practised alone or with others. It may last several minutes or mark an important transition in life.
Some ceremonies may involve direct immersion in Nature. Others may involve silence, reflection, gratitude or remembrance.
What makes something a ceremony?
Naturis Sancta™ does not define ceremony by objects, buildings or prescribed formulas.
A ceremony may simply be:
a conscious moment of stillness;
an expression of respect toward Nature, life or self;
an intentional transition from one moment to another;
an act of gratitude or remembrance;
or a deliberate period of connection with the natural world.
There are no mandatory tools. There is no compulsory script. There is no requirement to perform for an audience.
What matters is sincerity, intention and awareness.
Freedom within ceremony
Naturis Sancta ceremonies are voluntary.
No adherent is required to participate in a particular ceremony in order to demonstrate the sincerity of their faith.
Naturism may form part of a ceremony for an adult who personally finds spiritual meaning in it, but nudity is not required.
Where nudity is chosen, it must remain non-sexual, voluntary, consensual and appropriate to the location and applicable law.
Clothing or its absence does not determine the spiritual value of the ceremony.
Ceremonial moments
These are examples rather than compulsory rites. They may be adapted to individual circumstances and beliefs.
Greeting the Day
A simple ceremony of awareness at the beginning of a new day. It may be practised alone or with others.
- Find a quiet place, preferably outdoors.
- Face the morning light where comfortable and safe.
- Stand, sit or remain in whatever position feels natural.
- Notice the ground, air, temperature and sounds around you.
- Take several slow breaths.

Direct Connection with Nature
A ceremony centred upon deliberately reducing physical distractions between yourself and the surrounding environment.
- Choose a safe natural environment.
- Stand or walk barefoot if conditions permit.
- Notice the texture and temperature beneath your feet.
- Become aware of air, sound, light and the surrounding landscape.
- Remain still for several moments.
Adults who choose naturism as part of their spiritual practice may also remove clothing where lawful, private or otherwise appropriate. This is entirely optional.

Silence as a Sacred Act
Silence can become a ceremony when it is entered deliberately rather than experienced merely as an absence of sound.
- Choose a place where interruption is unlikely.
- Put aside unnecessary devices and distractions.
- Remain intentionally silent.
- Listen to the environment without trying to interpret everything.
- Allow thoughts to arise without needing to pursue them.
Let the moment exist without requiring words.
The Final Return
Death marks the end of an individual biological life and the beginning of the body's physical return to larger natural processes.
The Final Return is Naturis Sancta's departure ceremony, centred upon remembrance, dignity, gratitude and the recognition that the material from which life arose ultimately remains within Nature.
The ceremony may be adapted according to the wishes of the deceased, their family, cultural considerations and applicable legal requirements.

Voluntary
Spiritual practice has meaning only when participation is freely chosen.
Simple
Sacred meaning does not depend upon expensive objects, elaborate environments or institutional permission.
Adaptable
Ceremonies may evolve according to circumstances, environment, culture and personal spiritual understanding.
Respectful
Ceremony should respect other people, other forms of life, the environment and legitimate boundaries.
Present
The purpose is awareness of the moment rather than performance for an audience.
Personal
Different people may experience spiritual connection differently without making one experience superior to another.
No required holy days. Sacred moments.
Naturis Sancta™ does not require adherents to wait for a particular date before experiencing spiritual connection.
Seasonal events such as solstices and equinoxes may carry significance and may be observed voluntarily.
But ceremony is not confined to a calendar.
